Viscon Cellars Wines and Intrigue Chocolate Co. Present:

Wine & Chocolate Pairing

Intrigue-Chocolate-Co-Viscon-Cellars-Winery

Last February, we partnered with Intrigue Chocolate in Pioneer Square to pair three of our wines with three of their chocolate truffles, and it was such a sumptuous success, we had to repeat it. We have worked closely with Intrigue to pair their delightful handcrafted truffles with three of our award winning wines.

Intrigued?

"Lightly dusted with cocoa, rich flavors unfold as the truffle melts, revealing the natural complexities of the chocolate.  Take your time.  Breathe.  Let the chocolate tell its story.

Our truffles pair well with wine, coffee, tea, chai, craft beer, sake, fine liquors and liqueurs.  For a luscious combination, pair them by matching characteristics that are alike.  For an exciting combination, pair opposite characteristics. And to get the most from the experience, remember: Sip, Sip, Melt, Sip."

In Our Gallery: Greta Musland

Join us Thursday, January 10th for West Seattle Art Walk.

Viscon Cellars is hosting the artwork of Greta Musland from January through March.

"Appreciating both abstraction and figuratism, I often find myself combining both in a single painting as well as incorporating graphite within the confines of the oil painting or oil bar with acrylics.  I enjoy experiencing the contrast of paint's fluidity and the precision of drawing and often find them quite compatible."

Stop by on Thursday to browse Greta's mixed media pieces and sample some Viscon Cellars wines.

In Our Gallery: Encaustic by Sandy Simpson

Thursday, November 9 is West Seattle Art Walk.

Viscon Cellars is pleased to present the latest artwork of Sandy Simpson, who has moved from watercolors to encaustics. She shared with us a few words about this transition:

"I LOVE the transparency; it’s who I am. This new found medium has taken me through gardens and vineyards, music and travel. Layers upon layers of wax have found a home in my heart."

Stop by on Thursday for a look at Sandy's newest passion and a taste of the latest and greatest Viscon Cellars wines.

Sandy's art will be hanging through December, so if you can't make this Art Walk, put December 14th on your calendar.

Hope to see some of you for Art Walk, it's always a good time.

2013 BLACK
Red Wine Blend
Horse Heaven Hills
13.9% Alc

BLACK combines multiple wines from our 2013 vintage. Through constant tasting and testing of each barrel of wine during the aging process, we select the barrels of wine that offer the best representation of each varietal in creating this savory well balanced red wine blend.

BLACK is comprised of 68% Merlot, 21% Petite Sirah, 6% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. BLACK was aged for 36 months in 75% French Oak and 25% American oak barrels, both once-used.

The deep red color draws you into smells of fresh ripe dark fruits. Tastes of warm blueberries, black cherry finish with a hint of warm toast.

Introducing the 2014 Rhyme | Reason Syrah from Konnowac Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA.

This wine is 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier. Made in the French Côte Rôtie style, co-fermenting both Syrah and Viognier from the start. This wine was aged in once-filled French oak barrels for 36 months.

This Syrah has a dark opaque purple color that lingers on the side of the glass as you swirl.

The Co-ferment of Viognier adds aromas of fragrant raspberry, violets and bacon. Flavors of dark ripe warm summer plum, blackberry and a hint of leather, finishing with firm yet soft tannins and subtle fresh-cracked black pepper.

2016 PORCH
Rosé of Syrah
Rattlesnake Hills
13.4% Alc. by Vol.

Our 2016 PORCH is a Rosé of Syrah from Konnowac Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA. This wine was fermented and aged in 100% Stainless Steel tanks.

The name PORCH for me signifies a wine that can be enjoyed on a sunny day on the Porch, deck or patio or wherever you find your peaceful solace.  We even break out a bottle Rose’ in the dead of winter when we just need to put our spirits into a summertime mood.

As it swirls in your glass, the wine gives aromas of warm strawberry fields. Flavors of cranberries balanced with ripe summer plums, finishing with slight tannins and a hint of spice, which are key characteristics of Washington State Syrah.

13.4% Alc. by Vol.

The 2016 Perseverance is 100% Viognier from Konnowac Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA.

Fermented and aged in 100% Stainless Steel tanks, the amazing characteristics of this fruit shine through.

This Viognier has a soft golden color, aromas of honeysuckle, flavors of pineapple, finishing crisp and refreshing. Perfect with appetizers or as a simple glass on the patio.

The label on our 2016 Perseverance is a one of a kind piece from Seattle Artist Jesse Link. It depicts the need to “Persevere” and find the optimism in all.

In our home, we often marvel at our youngest daughter’s one track mind to get what she wants at any cost and note that her “Perseverance” will be a valuable asset in her future.  We couldn’t help but recognize the same perseverance in our efforts to bring this delicious wine to your table.

Viscon Cellars is a family-owned West Seattle winery focused on small lot production, sourcing fruit from premier Washington grape growers. We believe that great wine should be a part of everyday life.  We make and share approachable wines, delicious when paired with an everyday or special meal, or simply enjoyed with friends.
